Strategic Offshore Agreement Strengthens UAE-US Energy Alliance

ADNOC has formalized a landmark agreement with ExxonMobil and INPEX/JODCO, following discussions during the UAE-US Business Dialogue in the presence of President Donald J. Trump. The collaboration centers on expanding production capacity at a key offshore oilfield located northwest of Abu Dhabi. This initiative is a central component of ADNOC’s strategy to elevate production targets, with efforts also including new unconventional oil concessions and wider investment plans with U.S.-based companies.

The phased development plan involves substantial infrastructure upgrades across offshore and onshore operations. These include the creation of artificial islands to support drilling, the installation of 240 kilometers of subsea pipelines and 128 kilometers of fiber-optic cables, and construction of offshore structures such as riser platforms, jackets, and flare towers. Onshore elements encompass the development of oil processing units, gas lift and compression facilities, power generation systems, and accommodation facilities designed to house over 2,000 personnel.

Advanced technologies are a core element of the expansion strategy. Remote operation systems powered by artificial intelligence will streamline operations, while integration with the UAE’s clean energy grid will minimize carbon emissions. The initiative will also introduce digital monitoring systems and enhanced safety protocols, reinforcing operational efficiency and sustainability across offshore islands and onshore facilities.

This undertaking is aligned with the UAE’s commitment to sustainable growth and global energy security. By sourcing electricity from renewable energy, reducing the environmental footprint of operations, and deploying low-carbon intensity oil production methods, the development supports ADNOC’s wider goal of responsible resource management.
