Design Unveiled for 45,000-Seat Stadium in Riyadh

The New Murabba Development Company, owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), unveiled the designs for a new state-of-the-art stadium in Riyadh, which is expected to be completed by 2032. The stadium, with a seating capacity of 45,000, is poised to become a central feature of the transformative downtown destination in Riyadh City. Renderings show the stadium in football mode, potentially hosting matches during the 2034 FIFA World Cup, which Saudi Arabia is set to host after Football Australia opted against a bid.

Inspired by the native Acacia tree, the stadium’s design features ‘layered overlapping planes and peeling planar texture.’ It will be equipped with cutting-edge sporting technology, creating an immersive and personalized fan experience. The stadium will cover an area of 180,000 sqm, dedicated to sports events and will include restaurants, recreational areas, and shops. The design is a testament to the fusion of tradition and innovation that defines New Murabba, blending heritage with modern architectural elements.
