Qatargas, a leading player in the energy industry, has established a fresh deadline for the submission of technical bids for the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) of the fourth package (EPCI 4) of the North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) Compression Facilities. The deadline has been set for November 27, 2023. Following the reception of technical offers, the solicitation of commercial bids is anticipated. The contract is slated for award later in the same year.
Package 4 constitutes a vital component of Phase 1 of the North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) Compression Facilities initiative. This phase encompasses the development of two substantial offshore compression systems, potentially requiring up to 100,000 tonnes of fabrication. Each system will encompass a compression platform, flare platform, interconnected bridge, living quarters facility, and other associated amenities. Projections estimate that the compression platforms, CP8S and CP4N, may weigh between 25,000 and 35,000 tonnes each, contributing to the overall fabrication weight of up to 100,000 tonnes.
Qatar’s substantial investment of over USD 50 billion in the expansion of the North Field, spanning two key phases, underscores the nation’s commitment to bolstering its energy sector. The NFPS project, in particular, plays a pivotal role in sustaining production from the colossal gas field. With an ambitious objective to elevate LNG production capacity from 77 million tonnes per annum to an impressive 126 million TPA by 2026, the NFPS initiative holds significant strategic importance for Qatar’s energy landscape.
