Saudi Services for Electro Mechanic Works Company (SSEM), a prominent figure in the electro-mechanical industry, has undertaken the construction of the New Diriyah Gate 380/132/13.8kV Substation (9082) in Riyadh, marking a significant advancement in the city’s power infrastructure.
As the latest advancement in SSEM’s ambitious project, HD Hyundai Electric Co., the electrical equipment and energy solutions company affiliated with South Korea’s shipbuilding giant HD Hyundai Co., has secured a contract worth 94.3 Billion won (USD 72.3 Million). The company disclosed the agreement, stating that it has signed a supply contract with the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm SSEM for transformers, high-voltage circuit breakers, reactors, and other components.
The facility is set to be operated by the esteemed Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). The project involves the development of a state-of-the-art indoor 380/132/13.8kV gas-insulated substation, appropriately named 9082 BSP. This advanced facility integrates protection, control, communication, and SAS/SCADA systems to ensure a seamless and efficient operational environment.
The project is scheduled for completion within 25 months, underscoring a dedication to timely delivery without compromising on quality. A significant aspect of the endeavor includes expanding the 380kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) at 9005 BSP, in addition to procuring all required materials.
The entirety of the project’s scope falls under the purview of the contractor, who is executing it on a lump-sum turnkey basis. This encompasses tasks such as design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection and testing, transportation, delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing, and commissioning, along with all associated work and services.
Upon completion, the project will elevate Riyadh’s power capabilities, paving the way for improved reliability and efficiency in the city’s electrical infrastructure.
