CB&I has been awarded a significant lump-sum contract by the TJN Ruwais JV, a consortium including Technip Energies, JGC Corporation, and NMDC Energy, for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of two cryogenic tanks and associated works for the project ADNOC Gas – LNG Export Terminal – Ruwais Industrial City. These tanks, each with a capacity of 180,000 square meters, will be constructed with full-containment technology and advanced civil and mechanical infrastructure. Construction is slated to commence in November 2025, with completion anticipated in early 2028.
The facility will feature two electric-powered trains, each capable of producing 4.8 million tonnes of LNG per annum, powered entirely by renewable and nuclear grid energy. The plant incorporates Baker Hughes’ 75-megawatt BRUSH electric motor and advanced compressor technology. Additional components include LNG storage tanks, process facilities, an export jetty, and utilities. The use of artificial intelligence tools and cutting-edge technology will reduce emissions, enhance efficiency, and position the plant as one of the most environmentally friendly LNG facilities globally.
This project reflects Abu Dhabi’s broader vision of leveraging innovative technologies to meet the world’s growing energy demands sustainably. By doubling its LNG production capacity and strategically situating the terminal in Ruwais, ADNOC enhances operational efficiency and reduces costs, aligning with the UAE’s commitment to economic resilience and environmental stewardship. This landmark initiative further underscores Abu Dhabi’s role as a leader in clean energy and global energy innovation.
