The New Murabba Development Company reported substantial advancements in the earthworks package within The Mukaab District, a pivotal component of the New Murabba downtown project. Recent updates indicate that the earthworks, including excavation and backfilling, are advancing at a remarkable pace, surpassing expectations by being six months ahead of schedule. This commendable feat underscores the dedication and efficiency of the project’s stakeholders. Spearheaded by China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd., as the excavation contractor, and in collaboration with Geoharbour Middle East Construction, the geotechnical engineering firm, cutting-edge ground improvement technology is being implemented to ensure the structural integrity and stability of this transformative development.
To date, over 4 million cubic meters of predominantly rocky terrain have been successfully excavated from the central area of The Mukaab District. This massive quantity of rock material is being meticulously transported and strategically placed across designated areas of the site to serve as foundations for the forthcoming development phases. These podiums are integral to facilitating the seamless construction of future structures within the district.
Furthermore, Bechtel Corporation, a key partner in this endeavor, has achieved a significant milestone of 1 million safe working hours for the Early Works projects in New Murabba such as Site Clearance Package, Fencing, Hoarding, and Finishing, Temporary Site Office Package, and Earthworks in the Mukaab District, reinforcing the unwavering commitment to safety and excellence in project execution.
The scope of the project encompasses a comprehensive range of earthworks and excavation activities, including ground improvements, to enhance the surrounding development areas of The Mukaab. As the central cubical landmark of the New Murabba downtown, The Mukaab District is poised to redefine urban living on a global scale, aiming to become the world’s largest downtown upon completion.
