The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) received bids for three substantial projects, signaling a pivotal advancement in the expansion and fortification of the Kingdom’s power infrastructure. Among these tenders, two are centered on transmission lines, while the third focuses on a substation project.
The first pair of projects entails the deployment of 380kV Double Circuit Overhead Transmission Lines (OHTL), intended to interconnect several vital locations, including the Khushaybi Photovoltaic (PV) BSP, Qassim-2 BSP, Henakiya BSP, Afif BSP, and Dawadmi BSP. Participated by eleven reputable bidders, the competitive process saw Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Ltd. (ECC) emerge as the lowest bidder for both transmission line projects. For the OHTL between Khushaybi PV BSP, Qassim-2 BSP, and Henakiya BSP, L&T submitted a proposal of SAR 184.4 million (USD 49 million). Similarly, for the OHTL linking Khushaybi PV BSP to Afif BSP and Dawadmi BSP, L&T proposed SAR 334.5 million (USD 89.2 million). Their competitive pricing, coupled with their renowned expertise in infrastructure development, positions them as promising partners for SEC’s endeavors.
In addition to the transmission lines, SEC also received bids for the construction of the Al Khushyabi 380/132 kV BSP substation project. Nine bidders competed for this project, Once again, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Ltd. (ECC) emerged as the frontrunner, offering a proposal of SAR 672.4 million (USD 179.3 million). Their comprehensive understanding of substation design and construction, combined with their commitment to delivering quality infrastructure, renders them a preferred choice for this significant project.
These bids not only underscore the escalating investments in Saudi Arabia’s energy sector but also reflect the confidence of global industry players in the Kingdom’s vision for sustainable development. By leveraging the expertise of renowned companies like Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Ltd. (ECC), SEC is poised to enhance the reliability and efficiency of its power grid, ultimately contributing to the economic growth and prosperity of the nation.
