WeBuild, an Italian contractor, secured a significant SAR 20 billion (USD 5 billion) contract from NEOM to construct Three Dams at the Trojena resort. The primary dam, an impressive 145 meters tall and 475 meters at its crest, utilizes 2.7 million cubic meters of roller compact concrete (RCC). Within the lake, a kidney-shaped dam, 38 meters high and 700 meters long, creates an underwater island connected to Lake Village via an innovative underwater tunnel, requiring 650,000 cubic meters of RCC. The third dam, standing at 65 meters in height and 490 meters in crest length, is crafted with 4.15 million cubic meters of rockfill, adding an engineering marvel to the natural landscape.
The development extends beyond dam construction to include the lakebed line and foundations for the Bow Building, a concrete structure at the lake’s end, incorporating a hotel that overhangs the valley below. Noteworthy features encompass a man-made freshwater lake, ‘The Bow’ Hotel, and the Vault, a vertical village within the mountain blending technology, entertainment, and hospitality. The development incorporates the Slope Residences near the ski slope and luxurious mansions with panoramic views, seamlessly integrating with the environment’s beauty.
TROJENA, positioned at the heart of NEOM, 50 kilometers from the Gulf of Aqaba coast, showcases a mountainous region with Saudi Arabia’s highest peaks at approximately 2,600 meters above sea level.
