Qiddiya Investment Company unveiled plans for the Qiddiya Coast Stadium, a state-of-the-art facility in the northern region of Jeddah. Designed by Populous, the stadium will accommodate 46,096 spectators and is set to begin construction in 2029, with completion expected by 2032. The stadium’s design is inspired by the dynamic interplay of people, water, energy, and matter, featuring flowing shapes and vibrant colors that create a ‘Mexican wave’ effect.
Located on the northern coast of the Red Sea, the Qiddiya Coast Stadium will be a central feature of the Qiddiya Coast Development. This project aims to integrate modern architectural aesthetics with functional design, providing a unique and engaging experience for visitors. The stadium’s innovative design will not only enhance the visual appeal of the coastline but also contribute to the region’s cultural and entertainment landscape.
Post the 2034 FIFA World Cup, the stadium will undergo a significant transformation. By removing the upper tier, the seating capacity will be reduced to 25,000, and the venue will be reconfigured to accommodate a variety of events. Adaptable features such as curtains, partitions, and a removable pitch will enable the stadium to host esports competitions, exhibitions, concerts, conferences, and major sporting tournaments. This flexibility ensures that the Qiddiya Coast Stadium will remain a vibrant and versatile venue for years to come.
