Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) selected three contractors for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) work on Packages 2, 4, and 5 as part of the Lower Zakum Long Term Development Phase 1 (LZ LTDP-1).
Package 2
Awarded to Técnicas Reunidas (Spain), this package focuses on the development of Al Omairah Island’s topside facilities. The scope includes the construction of drill pad areas, a riser platform, offshore flare structures, export gas compression trains, and gas dehydration trains. The contract, valued at USD 3.394 billion, spans five years and will involve over 1.2 million engineering hours. Técnicas Reunidas’ engineering office in Madrid will oversee execution to meet ADNOC’s long-term production objectives. This project aims to enhance output at Lower Zakum, with a target production rate of 520,000 barrels per day until 2040.
Package 4
Awarded to NMDC Energy, responsible for specific works in the Lower Zakum field
Package 5
Awarded to Target Engineering Construction Company (UAE), overseeing critical works at ADNOC’s Das Island
The combined contracts, initially estimated at USD 6 billion, are now expected to exceed USD 7.5 billion, underscoring the scale and complexity of the project. Official confirmations are expected in the coming weeks.
Located about 65 kilometers northwest of Abu Dhabi in the central Persian Gulf, Lower Zakum is one of ADNOC’s key offshore assets. ADNOC and its partners, including Inpex Corporation, China National Petroleum Corporation, ONGC Videsh, Eni Spa, and TotalEnergies, continue to develop the field to meet the production target by end of 2027. With significant investments and strategic partnerships, ADNOC is set to maximize output and ensure long-term sustainability in offshore energy production.
