New Murabba Development Company (NMDC) initiated the pre-construction phase for the Mukaab development, issuing a request for qualifications (RFQ) with a deadline set for February 14, 2024. While sources close to the project have confirmed the RFQ release, the official tender (RFP) document is pending issuance.
Designed with innovative facilities and incorporating digital and virtual technology, the Mukaab structure promises a distinctive experience with state-of-the-art holographics. Encompassing a tower atop a spiral base, the project will offer 2 million sqm of floor space, positioning it as a premier hospitality destination with retail, cultural, tourism, and dining options, alongside residential and hotel units, commercial spaces, and recreational facilities.
NMDC’s recent announcement calls on contractors to pre-qualify for a significant construction contract associated with the Mukaab Project. Boasting a diameter of 330 meters and four towering structures, the project anticipates achieving groundbreaking architectural feats. The structural dome, serving both functional and aesthetic purposes, is set to be a defining feature of the Mukaab Project.
Turner Arabia has been entrusted by NMDC to provide project management consultancy services, while AtkinsRealis, based in Canada, is tasked with designing the master plan for New Murabba, including the distinctive cube-shaped Mukaab building. Additionally, China Harbour Engineering Company has been appointed for the initial construction phase, covering excavation, backfilling, and ground improvement. NMDC has also awarded contracts for the setup of temporary site offices at the New Murabba site to Saudi Real Estate Infrastructure Company (Binyah) and several other contractors for early packages.
