The Abu Dhabi government has hosted a four-day meeting ending on 20th October of the United Nations International Search and Rescue Advisory Group. This is the second gathering of this important global planning forum.
The meeting was held under the patronage of Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and organised by the Ministry of Interior, which was represented by Abu Dhabi’s General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD).
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Abdul Jaleel Al Ansari, Director General of GDCD, said that the meeting discussed a number of important topics, such as lessons learnt from the earthquake in Nepal, response mechanisms in the case of natural disasters, ways to develop the systems for approving search and rescue teams, and the use of modern technologies in search and rescue operations.
Gulf Fire intends to publish a full report of outcomes of this meeting in a future edition.
