A huge fire broke out at 4pm on Sunday 29 May and destroyed a number of warehouses in Sharjah’s Industrial Area. An official of Sharjah Civil Defence said that the fire broke occurred in Industrial Area 18.
Firefighters from Sharjah Civil Defence Headquarters, Muwailh, Samnan and Al Mina fire stations worked to control the blaze with eight pumps and other appliances attending the incident. The official said: “We immediately took the necessary precautions in the neighbourhood in order to prevent further spread to the adjacent warehouses” .
The cause of fire is still under investigation and there were no reports of casualties.
Many of the buildings and occupancies in the Industrial Areas of Sharjah are considered to be high fire risks and there have been a number of major outbreaks in recent years.
