The star of Husky’s firefighting product line is their world-leading Folding Frame Tank. These portable, foldable water tanks are primarily used in rural firefighting applications where water supplies are limited or nonexistent. They range in capacity from 500 gallons to 5000 gallons and are commonly stored on a tanker/tender truck. Firefighters deploy the tanks and dump the available water from a tanker into the tank. A fire engine/pumper stays onsite to draft water from the tank and attempts to extinguish the fire.
This takes place while the tanker continues to retrieve water from the nearest source, such as the closest town where hydrants are located, a pond, or even a nearby swimming pool. This process is called water shuttle operations.
The same ‘water shuttle’ routing also works with Husky’s Self-Supporting Tanks (SST’s). Husky’s SST’s are an all fabric, no framework type of tank with a foam collar that allows the sidewalls to rise with the water level entering the tank. SST’s are available in sizes between 100 gallons and 25,000 gallons. SST’s have several advantages. They can be a one person operation for tank sizes up to 3000 gallons that weigh in under 100 lbs. Storage options are also an advantage. Because they have no framework, SST’s can be folded in many configurations to fit your available space.
Husky is also a leader in Salvage Cover production. Using the highest quality materials for salvage covers and hall runners, Husky triple-reinforces the hems and uses solid brass #4 grommets spaced approximately 3’ apart and in the corners.
Decontamination pools and showers are other products Husky excels in. They offer three types of ‘decon’ pools, including a folding frame tank, a self supporting tank, and a continuous air chamber model. Standard pool sizes are 3’ x 3’, 4’ x 4’, 5’ x 5’ and 4’ x 8’. All decontamination pools are 1’ high. As always, custom sizes are available. Husky has two shower models. Their standard shower features a 36” x 42” base dimension and is 84” tall with four spray nozzles. Each nozzle emits 4 gpm. The economy shower has similar dimensions but with a single shower head located at the top and center of the unit. Both Husky decon showers are built with quick connect fittings for easy set up and tear down. Both showers come with a handy storage bag.
