In June, Safety Components had the pleasure of sponsoring the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) subcommittee meeting for firefighters’ Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Delegates from across the world traveled to Greenville, S.C. to attend the meeting.
Attendees included representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Japan, Australia, China, and more.
ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization that brings together experts to share knowledge and develop consensus-based, innovative, and market relevant International Standards that provide solutions to global challenges. ‘ISO/TC 94/ SC14′ is the official name of the specific group within ISO that met in Greenville who deals with the unique requirements for firefighters’ PPE. Their primary focus is on performance requirements for PPE, as well as Selection Use Care and Maintenance (SUCAM) and Cleaning and Maintenance.
This week-long meeting included working group sessions and crucial discussions about setting standards, guidance, use, care, and maintenance to keep firefighters safe. As the sponsoring company of this high-profile event, Safety Components enjoyed the unique opportunity to host delegates in its hometown of Greenville. The group enjoyed tours of Safety Components’ manufacturing plant, customized gift bags, and dinners at local spots.
Safety Components’ mission is to develop innovative and cutting-edge fabrics that maximize the highest quality and highest strength raw materials available in today’s marketplace. The company is proud to continue to support the ISO.
