Neil Bibby has been appointed as the Head of the MDM Publishing Editorial Advisory Board. As many of you know, Neil has been the editor of Asia Pacific Fire Magazine since 2015 and knows the inner workings of MDM like the back of his hand.
If you don’t know who Neil is, we’d be very surprised, but here’s a shortened biography of his glittering career in the fire industry to date.
Neil’s background is in the management of fire services and he has been involved with fire and emergency services for more than 40 years, fighting fires in his early days with Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade reaching the rank of Assistant Chief. He then moved on to become the CEO of the Country Fire Authority (CFA), one of the world’s largest volunteer Fire Service with 60,000 volunteers and 1,300 fire stations, for 7 seven years.
Since that time he has kept his finger on the pulse of the fire industry in his roles as the president of the Fire Protection Association Australia, board member of the Asian Fire Chiefs, member of CFPA-Asia, Chairman of an Emergency Services Foundation, past chairman of the National Aerial Firefighting Centre, past member of the board on the Bushfire Cooperative Research Centre. Neil has also completed the Australian and UK Brigade Command Courses.
Neil has worked in many different countries throughout his time in the fire industry including helping UK, USA and Chinese Fire services on common issues. He has also worked on aid projects helping to build the emergency services of Vietnam, Papua New Guinea and Fiji.
