The two-day event takes place in Hall 5 at the NEC, Birmingham on 20 and 21 September 2017.

Session highlights include the following:
Lessons Learnt Theatre sponsored by UCLan Protect
Neil Thomson, Deputy Medical Director of London Ambulance Service NHS Trust will address what the services learnt from the recent London incidents including Westminster, London Bridge and Finsbury Park Mosque as well as the Grenfell Tower fire.
Simon Lewis, Head of Crisis Response at the British Red Cross will speak on managing communities’ response to crises in the aftermath of the Manchester and London terror attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire.
North West Ambulance Service will also present its learnings from the Manchester Arena incident.
Dan Stephens, Chief Fire Officer of Merseyside FRS and Chief Inspector David Westby of Merseyside Police are also due to share learnings from the New Ferry gas explosion that took place in The Wirral in March.
Health and Wellbeing Theatre
Sara Jane Little of the Alzheimer’s Society and Phil Spencer of Cleveland Police will outline the Emergency Services Strategic Commitment on dementia.
Attendees can learn how Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has implemented Blue Light Time to Change pledge to end mental health stigma and discrimination in the workplace.
Drawing on his personal experience of a significant nervous breakdown, John Sutherland Chief Superintendent at the Met Police will look at understanding the personal impact that police work can have on those who serve.
Two psychological therapists from the Fire Fighters charity will explore the mental health issues and challenges faced by firefighters and their families.
Calum Macleod Vice Chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales will speak on the Federation’s campaign for tougher sentencing for those who assault emergency service workers.
Simon Durance and Gary Hayes, co-founders of the charity PTSD999, will present a session on living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Innovations Theatre
Richard Crosby of Devon and Cornwall Police will revisit the murder of Janine Munday in the context of technical safeguarding.
Rob Buckingham Director of RACE (Remote Applications in Challenging Environments) will explain the latest developments in robotics for the emergency services and how facilities at the UKAEA aid testing and efficient procurement for the Fire Service and Police Force.
With Black Swan events now frequent Luana Avagliano Head of ResilienceDirect will speak on Enabling Multi Agency Response and Recovery at both a national and local level and how technology can support the responder and recovery community.
Attendees can also find out more about the fully integrated control room operated by North West Fire Control, while Kent Fire & Rescue Service will share details of its Collaborative PPE Project.
West Midlands Fire Service will share the service’s experience of using body worn cameras.
Road Safety Theatre
Stephen Smith, Director of the Federation of Vehicle Recovery Associations will be talking about the expertise, knowledge and resources of road recovery firms and how they can assist the emergency services at the scene of a road traffic collision.
The Air Ambulance Association will present on how the roll out of All Lanes Running Highways impacts on all emergency services, rescue and recovery organisations, from egress and exit to an RTC or incident to landing an air ambulance.
Devon & Somerset FRS will present a new motorbike and road safety educational toolkit.
An experienced Community First Responder will highlight the dangers within a car that can impact how rescuers respond to incidents
All seminar sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the show and no pre-booking is required. Visitors wishing to claim CPD time need simply to collect a Seminar Passport at the end of any sessions attended and visit the CPDme stand (M48) at the end of their visit for a certificate of attendance.
Other CPD Opportunities
The College of Paramedics will once again deliver a programme of free 30-minute CPD workshops. This year’s programme includes a reflective account of the London bombings and a review of the changes to the AACE Maternity Guidelines. There will also be sessions on trauma, frequent caller management, airway management, paediatric cardiac arrest, newborn life support, infectious diseases, paediatric resuscitation, basic and advanced life support.
Trauma Care will be hosting a Training & Education Zone with free CPD skills stations where visitors can learn about new and exciting skills, technology and products, as well as receive CPD certificates. Places are limited on a first-come, first-served basis.
