The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology sealed a deal with Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) to finalize Phase 1 of the Al Batinah Coastal Road. Valued at USD 205.07 million (OMR 79 million), the agreement encompasses design, construction, and completion of the remaining segments. Work is scheduled to begin in two weeks, with completion anticipated within 63 months.
Phase 1 completion entails paving 22 km from Barka to Suwai Port and 8 km from Sohar Port to Khatmat Milaha. Key components include constructing four Wadi bridges, 67 box culverts, and service roads on both sides. Additionally, a 4 km dual carriageway link from Barka Souq and a 6 km link from Suwaiq Wilayat, featuring the Suwaiq Bridge on the Batinah Main Road, will be built.
The Al Batinah Coastal Road, extending 244 km from Barka to Khatmat Milaha, is divided into two phases. Phase 1 comprises sections from Al Naseem Interchange to Al Suwaiq Port (66 km) and from Sohar Port to Khatmat Milaha (67 km). Phase 2 covers Suwaiq Port to Sohar Port (111 km). This project aims to enhance regional connectivity and transportation infrastructure.
The agreement signifies a significant step towards realizing the full potential of the Al Batinah Coastal Road, which plays a crucial role in facilitating socio-economic development and improving transportation efficiency in the region.
