Reacton Fire Suppression are proud to announce that we have secured an extremely large project through our partners, Tabra Trading. The first project is for Emirates Transport school bus fleet. In November of 2021, Reacton announced our partnership with market leader Tabra Trading who specialise (and are experts) in vehicle safety.
The partnership was finalised in Dubai, showcasing the strategic and logistical importance of our international offices including our branch in Dubai, UAE. After working with Tabra for several months, we are delighted to announce that we will be supplying them with systems and resources to protect thousands of buses across the United Arab Emirates in the following months.

Vehicle and public transport fires are a far too common occurrence which can cause major disruptions and pose a serious threat to life. It only takes a simple online search for “bus fire” to identify the extreme frequency of the issue at hand, the evidence cannot be ignored that more needs to be done to protect people and vehicles. Government records further denote that approximately 61% of bus and coach fires originate in the engine compartment with 29% of these fires starting with passengers present. This drastically increases any present risks and places greater emphasis on the requirement for automatic fire suppression systems. Reacton are proud to play a crucial role in providing our automatic fire suppression systems to Emirates Transport who are addressing a huge issue and setting a precedent for the Middle East to protect their vehicles, especially school buses. Securing this deal is a huge step in the right direction for the future of fire safety for vehicles, being at the forefront of a major issue to tackle these problems is one of the many reasons why Reacton are the industry leader for vehicle fire suppression systems. With approvals and regulations in place, it helps to mitigate the risk of vehicle fires and saves lives. The deal comes as a collaboration with Tabra and Emirates Transport, who recognised the increase in vehicle fires and the requirement to mitigate this risk. Various avenues and options for protection were explored but the Reacton system, with our internationally recognised approvals, proved to be the most well suited to meet the demands of Emirates Transport. Not only was our system fully compliant with low maintenance costs, but our level of output, quick lead times and marketing support set us aside from any competition and made us the obvious decision. The standard created evaluates fire suppression requirements for engine compartments of buses and coaches. Various tests needed to be completed to achieve the standard created, all of which Reacton passed. The tests took various elements from different standards including the P-Mark SPCR 183 and UNECE R107 approvals, the elements included: fire tests, vibration tests, corrosion tests and temperature cycling. Reacton already have both the UNECE R107 and P-Mark SPCR 183 (with the highest score possible covering a range of our systems) approvals for our systems so we were familiar with the test scenarios, in addition to our existing test rigs we built another test rig with Tabra in the UAE to allow the authorities to witness the testing and to provide total transparency in our testing. The rig is designed to mock-up the engine of a bus or coach, this provides accurate data and findings as the test scenario serves as an imitation of a real bus fire.

As forestated, the standard created regarding automatic fire suppression for buses and coaches in the UAE recognises the accolade of holding both P-Mark SPCR 183 and UNECE R107. UNECE R107 is more widely targeted towards European bodies whilst SPCR 183 encompasses a broader scope being internationally recognised. With this in mind it should be noted that the P-Mark testing is more stringent, so by combining elements from both approvals it ensures that high standards must be met in order to achieve the approval. Being experts in these tests and the P-Mark and R107 approvals we have invested heavily into our R&D to deliver the same standard of zero compromise for quality that we issue across all of our testing and approvals.
Vehicle fire suppression standards exist to ensure maximum protection can be achieved for the safety of the passengers, operators and surrounding population. The test scenarios are designed to imitate a fire scenario in an engine compartment to test the performance of the automatic fire suppression system, ensuring it functions to its greatest capacity. The component and vibration tests further prove the quality of the system, these elements are vital to the functionality of the system and therefore require these tests to exemplify the standards and quality they have been designed to meet. Representatives from the Reacton team of experts including Sam Malins (CEO), Ed Chivers (Global Product & Certifications Director) and Jim Dickinson (International Sales Manager) were all present for the tests, along with representatives from our partners Tabra Trading. The representatives from both parties had existing confidence in the system and its capabilities but were present for the testing to demonstrate Reacton’s knowledge and experience with the support from the Tabra Trading team.
