James is currently the Fire and Gas Chair for the Safety and Cybersecurity Division of the International Society for Automation (ISA) and convenor of the BSI working group developing guidance on the design of hazard detection systems. James is also currently a PhD Researcher with the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, specialising in fire prevention in marine based applications.
